A-shares: order sizes, price limits and fees

Per-board minimum order sizes and daily price limits, plus how commission, stamp duty and transfer fees are computed.

MechanismLast reviewed: 2026-09-09

The A-share channel is currently unavailable. This is not a temporary pause — the order path is not yet connected. This article describes the rules that will apply once it is, so you can read them in advance; you cannot trade on them today.

Order size and price limits by board

A buy must be at least the minimum order size, and any excess must align to the increment.
  • 100 shares will not buy on the STAR Market: the minimum is 200 shares; above 200 you may increment by 1 share, so 201 and 237 are both valid.
  • Odd lots must be sold in a single order: a balance below the minimum order size, or the remainder below one lot on a lot-based board, can only be sold in one order and cannot be split.
  • A code that matches no known board (B shares, funds, bonds, malformed codes) is rejected outright rather than treated as Main Board.

Price rules

  • The tick size is CNY 0.01; a limit price that is not a multiple of it is rejected.
  • Limit price = previous close × (1 ± price-limit ratio), rounded half-up to CNY 0.01.
  • If the previous close is unavailable, limit orders are rejected, rather than skipping the price-limit check.

Fee components

FeeDefault rateSideNotes
Commission0.012%Both sidesMinimum CNY 5 per order
Stamp duty0.05%Sell onlyLevied on the sell side only
Transfer fee0.001%Both sidesCharged on both buy and sell
Regulatory fees0 by defaultBoth sidesMost brokers fold these into commission, so nothing is itemised by default

These are the platform's built-in default rates and can be overridden by deployment configuration. The charge that applies is the one shown in the fee breakdown on the order confirmation step. When one order fills in several parts, the CNY 5 commission minimum is applied once per order, not once per partial fill.

The CNY 5 minimum dominates small orders. At 0.012%, commission only reaches CNY 5 at a notional of CNY 41,666.67; because fees are rounded to the cent, the first notional whose commission actually exceeds CNY 5.00 is CNY 41,708.34. Below that, every order pays the CNY 5 minimum.
